A “LONG WALK” IN AID OF GUILDFORD STREET ANGELS
SEPTEMBER 2014

GUIDELINES AND DISCLAIMER

Thank you for joining us on our sponsored walk in aid of Guildford Street Angels (Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy)

All team members, walkers and supporters take part in this event entirely at their own risk. Guildford Street Angels shall not be liable for any accidents, injury, loss or damage sustained as a consequence of participation in this or any event organised or endorsed by Guildford Street Angels. Any participant, who has any doubts about their fitness or ability to take part, should consult their G.P. or a suitably qualified health professional before considering participation.

The walk is 12-14 miles long per day and follows the North Downs Way across variable terrain including the North Downs, heathland, farmland, woodland, country tracks and along some roads. This walk is on public footpaths which are steep and uneven in places so appropriate footwear should be worn – the majority of the walk is not suitable for child buggies and mobility scooters due to the terrain and a number of stiles to climb over. However ALL are welcome to join us on the accessible paths into Guildford and up to the Cathedral on the final day. It may rain so waterproofs and suitable clothing are recommended. It is requested that all walkers respect any specific instructions given by the CTOG team and when on minor roads with no footpaths are advised to walk on the verges or in single file on the road facing any oncoming traffic.

All walkers accompanied by dogs should keep their dogs on leads, clean up after their dogs using poo bags, provide enough water for themselves and their dogs and be physically fit enough to complete the distance. Walkers should ensure their dogs are under control at all times.

The team is aiming to walk as a group at a medium pace and will be aiming to keep together as far as is practicably possible as this will be more fun! Please be aware that the team is walking to specific deadlines and meeting points so participants may need to make alternative arrangements if they are unable to complete a section or maintain the pace. Whilst participants accept full responsibility for their own welfare, the team will all have mobile phones with them so if there is a problem please notify a team member so help can be summoned if needed.

Please ensure all children under the age of 16 are accompanied by a responsible adult. The CTOG team cannot assume responsibility for lone children.

By taking part, each participant gives their permission to the CTOG team to use any photographs or video taken during the event to publish on their website or other media. Any participant wishing to opt out of this should inform one of the CTOG members on the day of walking.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND ENJOY THE WALK!
